Well I'll damn sure vote for Bush in 2004! Ya know....I spent most of my life voting Democrat 'cause that's just what ya did (at least that's how I was brought up).....Duhhhhhhh!!!!!! But I sure was glad Bush was in there when 9/11 happened. And I've really been impressed with him ever since - seems like he just sorta "bloomed" after that. Hate to think how Gore would've handled it. [img]frown.gif[/img] And I've just become disenchanted with the Democrats for a number of reasons - too much to go into here. Felt good when I realized I have a mind of my own, and I don't have to vote for someone who's a jackass, or a dummy, just 'cause they're in the "right" party....LOL!

I have mixed emotions about abortion - I do NOT approve of it as a method of birth control! If it's a medical necessity, then that's another story. I feel like if a mother's life is hangin' in the balance, that's an acceptable reason. OR if the baby is positively damaged in some way that it could never live a reasonably normal life, then I feel like it's acceptable. That one can get kinda tricky though. Rape is another situation where I can't say an abortion would be absolutely wrong. But for women to just use it to "get rid of" an unwanted baby that they willingly participated in making - that chaps my ass. So, as usual, I'm hangin' somewhere there in the middle of that one.....LOL! [img]smile.gif[/img]

See? That's what chaps my ass,LL...the ones that use it as a form of birth control just because they don't want the baby!! Don't want a baby? Then be responsible enough to take birth control or keep your damn legs closed!! SO MANY people are out there that want babies and can't have them and would be more than happy to adopt. My step uncle and aunt have been trying for YEARS to no avail. So have some friends or mine and John's. She can't have babies. When she was a teenager, her apendix ruptured and she got gangrene and it got on her tubes so now she can't conceive. They want to adopt but you wouldn't believe how long the waiting list is!!
I dunno...if I was raped and got pregnant, I think I would keep the baby. I believe that God in His infinite wisdom, has a reason for everything.

You're right CB - sooooo many peeps wanting a baby that would love to adopt one. And women getting abortions simply 'cause they don't want one at the time. They can always let it be adopted, if they're not too damn lazy to carry it! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm kinda open on the rape situation. If a woman wants the babe anyway, that's great! But some women couldn't handle it emotionally - the baby would always remind 'em of the trauma of the rape and they'd end up takin' it out on the child, and would probably mistreat it. That would be awful! Or if the rapist was someone prone to commit crimes, or maybe mentally ill - ya never know what the poor child may "inherit" from the father. [img]frown.gif[/img] Those are the main reasons I say rape COULD be a reason for abortion. But heck - if a woman wanted it, and would love it and treat it right, then it would be much better to keep the li'l thing. The rape thing is a tough one - so much "gray area" where that's concerned.

One of my friends called me one time, years ago, and asked me if I could take her to Houston - she was pregnant and she and her hubby weren't ready for a baby, so she was getting an abortion. I felt like a heel, but I had to tell her no. I told her I just couldn't participate in that. I loved her anyway, and we stayed friends, but I just couldn't take part in an abortion for that reason. Later on they had a darling little boy. [img]smile.gif[/img] I do my best not to judge people - and it was their life - didn't need my approval. I was just glad she understood. I'm probably overly open-minded, but I do have my limits - and she found one of my limits....LOL!
